To be able to interpret the work presented here it is necessary to understand its interrelation with the surroundings, its connection to other work also by Carlos Ferrater with Joséa Luis Canose and Bet Figueras. The Botanical Garden of Barcelona was the winning project in a competition of 1989, and was completed in 1999. Both projects, the Garden and the Institute, were created on the basis of two geometries which at the same time supplement and confront each other: fractal and Euclidian. Today, in 2003, upon the completion of the second phase, we can recognize and valorize that contrariety.
